Kevin Daquon Shippy was a vibrant, creative, and talented young man who loved to live, laugh, and shine his light on others. He was born September 14, 1994, to Veronica Shippy in Springfield, MA, and was the only child. Kevin enjoyed playing basketball, soccer, and baseball as a young boy. During his athletic career, he made many life-long friends with team members that he went on to consider brothers. Kevin also loved to sing and dance. He would always partake in school talent shows with a group of friends calling themselves “The Temptations.”

Kevin’s smile would brighten up a room, and he prided himself in always being a gentleman, but he was also a goofy, courageous, and kind young man. Kevin was blessed to attend the “A Better Chance” Program. He graduated from Glastonbury High School in Glastonbury, CT, where he participated in Varsity Basketball, coaching and mentoring children. During his years, he worked in the community as a residential worker and a camp counselor while coaching youth basketball. Kevin loved working with children.

Kevin attended Springfield Technical Community College pursuing a degree in business. Even though he pursued a degree in business, he never stopped working towards his passion for music. His desire to entertain others birthed out his alter ego, “Yung Kevalier,” who took the world by storm through his fantastic music and acting career. Determined to make Springfield, Massachusetts, known for his music, he worked endlessly, producing over 54 songs that can be found on all music platforms. Kevin loved family gatherings, traveling, and simply living life to the fullest. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Kevin’s life was cut entirely too short in Miami, Florida, on January 29, 2021, to a fatal car accident.

To honor the life and legacy he left for others to cherish, the Kevin D. Shippy Foundation was created to bring awareness to the tragedy of car accidents and how they affect the lives of youth and families globally.
